I guess am changing my fan club.
For a very long time since "Sarfarosh", I was a die hard Aamir khan fan and admired him for the fact that he probably was the only honest story-teller in bollywood. He still is, but i guess i have fallen for someone else's charm.
Just heard the songs of "Luck by chance".
Pure Nirvana.Period
Anyone else joining the Farhan Akhtar fan club.???

Who the hell is invisible?
Maybe coz I've been using gtalk and gmail for more than a couple of years now, hence am getting too critical about many of their finer aspects. But by this,I do not intend to hurl any insult at these cutting edge, instinctive products.
Disclaimer. Period.
Back to bashing.
Do u sometimes wonder as to who among your friends are currently invisible on their Gtalk account. For beginners, the invisible option doesn't show up on your gtalk chatting client, it only shows up when you login through ur gmail account and use the cloud gtalk.
Well, now am gonna tell u a simple trick.
1) Login to gtalk.
2)Go to settings
3)Go to the Notifications tab.
4)Check the box, show friend when online.
From now on whenever anyone logs in u get a irritating message saying "Jackass is online."
Sometimes or rather many times it also shows people who are invisible .
I have checked it with multiple accounts and with some other friends of mine.
Well am not the one who found it first, lotza other people have noticed this too.
I strictly cannot predict how to reproduce this bug,coz it doesn't work many times. But yeeah, i do know most of the times, the names of some those who are invisible.
Just a piece of code which might be hitting a global variable by chance. That's my take.
Wanna be invisible still??

"Captcha" doesn't work on gmail !!
Let us try a brute force attack.
1) Open gmail. http://www.gmail.com/
2)You have to have a gmail account to appreciate what I am trying to say.
3)Login with a set of standard brute force attack credentials
Login id: a
password:abcdefgh
4)Page posts back and u happen to see a new page with a "captcha" shown.
5)Now try again with another such set of credentials:
Login id:aa
password:abcdefghi
6) Don't enter the captcha.
7) Click on enter , you will find that the page posts back and a new set of captcha is now shown on the screen
8)Last step: Now enter your valid credentials
Valid username,password combination.
9)Don't enter the captcha and you will find that you are able to login and see your inbox.
HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHH !!!!!!
What was the purpose with which captcha was designed.
Simple ,so that there are no more brute attacks on any online portal.
The vector shown can only be analysed only by a human or human interface.
So if a person doesn't enter the captcha, the page shouldn't post back and server requests shouldn't be validated.
But there i was,
1) I was able to get the page to post back without entering the captcha
2) I was able to login without typing the captcha.
Gmail still rocks though !!!

War!!!
I am writing this with a heavy heavy heart, hurt by someone's insensitivity.
Am not writing a post on the Bombay siege or the repercussions it might have had.
I respect our forces who bravely fought and laid their lives down in a complete nomadic suicide mission and rescued a lot of people who might have lost thier lives. The graveness of the situation and the peril associated with it could be imagined by the fact that two black cat commandos lost their lives in the ordeal. Commandos as we all know are bullet-proof jacket wearing invisible characters, who are just not supposed to die. The life of each one of them is worth crores. If two such people could loose their lives in a matter 60 hours which is a very very very rare thing to happen , just imagine how bad the attacks were.
Yesterday a popular news channel was saying, " Jeet Lee Jung". HUUUUUUUH. That to me is the most insensitive piece of journalism that I have come across ever. I myself used to make fun of these news channels and laugh at them and used to call it "analytical journalism". But this, i just din know wat to say.
I hated that news cast though it made heroes of the martyrs and showed people cheering. If am not wrong itz the terrorists who have won and our war against terrorism hasn't even started yet.All the suffering, pain, blood and terror masked by a thin expression of victory and a lot of noise converting the whole thing into another soap -opera the audience would love to watch.
Am outta words.

Communism vs Capitalism ...........History repeats itself???
Someone had accused me of being a little too autobiographical in my blogs, but then a piece of writing is only worth reading if it has a soul of its own. So probably that is why every incident i write about, has a "me" lurking in it somewhere.
Well, the above line must have sounded like a cliche so must the title of this blog but then sometimes if it is a trade-off, between soulfulness and being a little "not so cool" which one do u choose??
It's easy to make a choice when u comprehend the deal ,precisely.
Talking of history, mom always tells me that, in all the generations that she has seen this far, different characters play different roles but the soul of the script always stays the same. God has no imagination at all or maybe he just has an amazing sense of humour.
For all you rational people, and for all you "AYN RAND" fans, who just love to prove it to others as to how communism is no good, over a cup of coffee , well let us just do a small reality check before we move on. After the industrial revolution in the europe, when the fruits of nationalization, machinization and the "virtue of selfishness" were changing the lifes and the patterns of thought of the millions of middle class people, people in the labour class were still in the paleolithic age. That was when ,the concept of communism was born.Whenever, communism has been able to attract the fantasy of any nation, it was because every citizen wanted to be like those privileged few. So,psychologically communism starts with a dream to achieve what capitalism produces but does it get there................ok let us not go to the details.
Let us just discuss one small detail here, so communism starts as a war against the tyrant capitalist(russian revolution and many others) to achieve a society of social equality and justice where every one is happy and not just a privileged few. But then does it work? well it becomes a higher form of torture. You have no choice. Power is vested now in the hands of a very few people whose word ends up being the rule of law.
Capitalism..................Communism.............Absolutism
Results(German wall,USSR,tiannaman square, apne india mein........no other party being able to fight the communists in bengal for 30 years now(watch YUVA....one of the amazing hindi movies which no one ever saw))
So what am I getting at:
A few months back when I joined a MNC as this "fresh college fella" and had to put up with a helluva lot of technical jargon, one thing which was the most talked about term was "cloud computing". So lemme simplify. In terms of business models, before the inception of google, there were just two competitive business models,Licensing model and the open source model. So it was simple, either u buy your software from Microsoft, oracle etc. and pay them for the license and they in turn support and upgrade your software and take care of you in terms of feature requests and usability and employ engineers to make their products more business seeking and customer friendly or u could download it for free from SUN or linux site or some other open source company but u will have no place to run to if u are in a situation where some absurd undocumented behaviour crashed ur banks software and u lost a miilion dollars. :)
My college professor used to say that the software world is in the right balance, right now, because positive and negative(which one is which, u choose) are existing together . He was right, because windows or visual studio cannot be sold at too high a price, why?? because once people can't afford it they would rather use linux or java. But what if there were no license based companies at all, well trouble again, all the open source products would become highly crappy and highly unusable(which many of them still are) as they wouldn't have a baseline to compete with.
So in short ,open source if left alone(communism) will result in another choiceless world(like communists have no religion) where u have to use what u have.
And license base companies,if left alone would lead to world where only a few privileged people would be using softwares.
During the cold war(till there was a concept called USSR) US and it's clown nations never had the guts and gumption to attack a country which was suspected of having nuclear weapons and kill millions for the sake of oil.
But now ,because there is a disbalance of power u see the results............
So why am I worried if everything is fine with the software world.
Well, leave it alone for a while.Let us discuss "cloud computing".This is the future google wants. This is where every web based company is headed towards right now. What is it?? Well today when u open your computer, how do u navigate??u open outlook and send a mail, open the messenger installed on ur computer and talk to ur friends,go to my pictures and change ur wallpaper , so much and so on. Have u ever wondered ,if all these were not on ur computer??
Thatz the future a web based company aspires for. They make money not outta selling their licenses but through the ads that show up on them.So their vision is simple, put the entire PC on the cloud(cloud stands for internet). The entire way u use ur computer might change!!! In a few years,u maintain ur company docs in google docs and prepare a presentation online and save it there, have all ur photographs in a picassa web library, use the google reader rather than the adobe reader to read books, don't install a chatting client but talk to your friends after logging into gmail account, watch entire movies online, using youtube. So soon ur PC will not have a single application installed on it and the only thing u need to have to use all these, is a web browser. Well i have heard of rumours that web based companies are planning to provide online programming consoles(substituting JAVA and .NET) and also planning to take the entire operating system into the cloud. Imagine, in a few years as soon you start your computer it won't boot up the OS but connect to the internet first and then boot up from a distant location. HUH................Cloud computing at it's best that would be..............
That is the day I am afraid of, although to the reader it might sound like a very cool thing.Well, all the web based products or most of them are cool to use but they stay in the "beta stage" for years together. These are the initial signs of custonmer neglect. Most of them have problems but no one cares for the simple reason that, businesses hardly use them. What if ,this concept of cloud computing engulfs the entire software world tomorrow, what if everything u use is free , but it's online and there is no support. In the initial few days there will be support but then if this business model ends up winning over others completely then who will "guard the guards". Everyone can use everything coz itz online, all the people who keep saying that licensing and bill gates are the two big problems with the world will finally have a peaceful sleep. But those will be like the first few days of joy in a communistic set up.Remember how people in Afghanistan celebrated the "arrival of Taliban" as it was the end of war and begining of new age.
Licensed..........Web World............Software anarchy
So for me,communism and capitalism, if co existing and doing a balance of power would lead to peace eventually, likewise this script keeps getting played with the same soul but a different costume in almost every other world.
I can't forsee the future, but i don't want either of the models to become supreme.
Am not a science fiction writer, but am sure there is a movie plot ,there somewhere, if u continue.

Super Hero
Well everyone's going gaga over Aamir Khan and his "Taare Zameen Par"..........classes,masses and even highly critical jerks like me.
So much so that he is right now hailed as the poster boy of innovation and the spirit of honest story telling in bollywood among the current generation of movie makers.
I always believed that "genious recognized" is basically the presence of the right person, at the right place, at right point of time. In that case, should one person's ingenuity be measured against other's public acceptance.
Well , am being hazy here, i just read a blog of some Aamir Khan fan saying that had Sanjay Leela Bhansali made TZP, then it would have probably been like this:
1)Salman as the teacher.
2)Rani as the mother.
3)Of course the whole film would be shot on elaborate sets. The school would be nothing short of Harvard university.
4)An orchestra would play every time anyone cried.
5)Slow motion, different camera angles for every scene.
6)The school uniforms would match the classroom walls even though that does not make a difference.
7)The film would cost 60 crores.
So, the genious recognized here was compared to the genious unrecognized.
This way the perception of honest creativity will change every weekend, like it usually does on the blogosphere.
So what am I doing here, defending the biggest disaster of the year??
No am defending the creative idea behind it......
How come??
This is how...............
You read and hear about so many sexy, sleazy movies releasing every other weekend........from murder to julie to what not............ does anyone of them even come close to making u feel the oomph like "Basic Instinct", or does anyone of them actually come close to flirting with your romantic imagination like "Bobby", so in this age of too many movies with too much skin show, or boy meets girl story ending up with a "maahi ve" where every family member does a bituva presley is what we get to see in the name of romantic movies in our generation.
So if a person made an attempt to the create an out of the world romantic environ adding a teaspoon of reality and actually comes close to meeting the purpose(remember that last scene where it snows in the city and almost looks like a love-making scene without having being one)
but somehow goes unrecognized (bad release time(dont show such movies during diwali maaan)) should his creative intellect be compared to someone else..........u tell me now??
You see spiderman and start clapping in joy, you see him giving up his girl friend to meet some higher purpose of which he has no idea........u shed a tear for him saying......... he rocks!!!!!
But do you really recognize the super hero around u.......... inside u........ a millionaire giving up his wealth to a charity without leaving anything for his own son, a whore with a heart of gold(Rani Mukherji),a person keeping up his promise inspite of all odds(salman khan), a super charming guy who is human enough to feel jealous enough to destroy his love's message for her love and still being absolutely incapable of any pain or guilt at the end of the day(Protagonist)..........well u don really clap for him or say.......... awww (tears)................
So let's not debate on the creative concept of that movie........... he couldn't deliver not that he couldn't think......... :)
So thatz the definition ,who decides what is genious......... as u see it(i.e. genious recognized) ...... it is just the right person at the right place at the right point of time........
So, before pointing a finger remember if u are a person who believes in the power of human brain going the unseen distance...........this could be you tommorow.

Sydney Test
Well wassup the headlines..............
1)30,00 thousand people heard the knick........and he still didn't walk away???
2)Why was the TV umpire not consulted????
OK OK.....agreed..........India got a bad deal, lost something which they looked like taking away at one point of time...............and all that because ................probably a few people(officials) could have done a better job......agreed......
Now, what do you expect, the umpires punished, match officials fined, suspension rolled back........and probably match annulment(with records intact i hope for the sake of sachin's 38th and kumble's 100) , all asian teams getting united, lot of pomp and show, boards sending letters of apology, sponsors playing the unseen big brother(India means money dude) press reporters fighting for justice, bloggers creating an atmosphere..blah blah...............and then like in all cute and sweet "realistic" movies(yeah realistic..don't u know "saawariya " bombed)...............justice prevailing.................huh........so much to a test match.
For me past is past, i look at solutions, only solutions.
So what is the most popular suggestion.............i.e. to avoid another such "sydney test" ::USE TECHNOLOGY,use cameras, use short circuit ones, use sonometers,snickometers.....change the rules, let anyone appeal......................grrr8 solution...........yeah grrr8 solution.........Before i comment more letz do a future watch.
Year "2080"
Technology is so advanced that probably....there is a brain mapping chip...polynucleotide processor...which has just a few terabytes of RAM.........and when it runs an OS with about 1024 tasks in the queue....and it probably gives u a 0.000000000000000001 secs delay..it gets reported at the highest level as a production defect..............and leads to product unpopularity.....................huh
Say in that age, whatever's on the field is on every person's wrist watch in the stadium...................
Then there is a super dominating team called "ICANTLOOSE" .....................playing against another team called "CRICISMYRELIGION".............great competition.....great game............then "CRICISMYRELIGION" are in a dominating position, with their opponents down at 143/6 and another edge goes to the first slip..........the whole of "CRICISMYRELIGION" starts jumping as everyone has seen it,everyone knows it...itz on every camera...........now stored in over a zillion hard disks(itz 2080 dude).....and hola...........umpire feels there is "electromagnetic interference" in his camera..............he just moves confirms with the batsman looks at his mate(the other partner)........the batsman says no........not at all................the umpires feel.............o maan they are "ICANTLOOSE" .............are u kidding...........wat if they loose...........wat if ...............naaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnn.............yeah ur right...........u r not out........The opposition captain...a very modest, hardworking gentleman...comes up and appeals again...........REACTION::go away we are the bosses here.Captain is too much of a gentleman to ask his team to walk off................so result the same...........
Hooha "CRICISMYRELIGION" aaya "CRICISMYRELIGION" :D
Long ,nerdy, boring story right..............this situation will keep repeating till as long as time lasts...........technology is not the solution....it is like treating the patient, not the disease.
Solution:Next time this happens, now or 2080............don't wait...don't try to avoid the fuss.....don't let the bomb tick....walk away.....just walk away.........object to that decision right there, right then and walk away..............(GAVASKAR was a grrr8 player).........
Technology can only take u this far.............from there on u have to take a few leaps of conviction.
